Annual, everlasting. Spikes of bright green bell-shaped “flowers” atop 2½' branching stems. Each green bell is really a showy inflated calyx with a tiny pinkish flower inside. Often dried for winter arrangements; when dried, bells turn creamy white. Likes partial shade; thrives in cool climates. Needs light to germinate. Will self-sow. About 140 seeds/g.

Saving Flower Seeds Is Easy!

Almost all the flowers we list are open- pollinated and easy to save seed from. Some types cross readily, but who cares! Save the seeds, plant them, and be surprised.

These flowers are especially easy to save seed from: bachelor’s buttons, calendula, cerinthe, cosmos, love-in-a- mist (nigella), nasturtium, poppy, strawflower, sunflower, sweet pea and tithonia.
